Rodent Control

It is quite the feeling finding that you have a rodent infestation. You may actually see a rodent, which is the worst, or you can find a lot of fecal pellets. Rodents are pests that need to be taken care of immediately because they can do a lot of damage to the home. Rodents like to chew through wires and chew into insulation. Not to mention the fleas on rats have known to carry the plague and the fecal pellets in mice can carry the Hantavirus, which can be deadly to humans., There are a few things that you can do to keep rodents from entering the home, and to kill them once they are in:

Keep A Clean Home

Most of the time a rat or a mouse will come into the home only if there is a food source. That food source is usually going to come from a dirty home. So, it is very important that you keep your home extremely clean. If you find that you do have a rodent infestation, clean out the cupboards and the pantry extremely well. Also, vacuum the home and ensure that no crumbs are in the home. Deep cleaning your home makes it more unlikely that you will get a home infestation, and it can prevent current infestations from getting worse.

Poison

There are a few different types of poison that can be administered to rats and mice. The poison should be left out where the rats or mice can eat it, and it will kill the rodent within a few days. The poison will contain a type of food, and also a phosphide. The phosphide will cause a deadly chemical reaction to occur in the body of the rat or mouse. It is a very effective way to kill rodents. However, remember that it does take a few days to kill the rodent and they are able to go back into their hiding place. You may find yourself with a few dead rodents in your wall.

Spring Loaded Traps

The old fashioned spring loaded trap is still one of the most common and well-liked methods of killing a rodent. The spring loaded trap kills the rodent on impact and allows for the rodent to be thrown away. Rodents tend to travel parallel to the wall, and thus the trap should be set perpendicular to the wall with the bait facing the inside of the room. This will force the rat or mouse to trip the spring.
